Training

Every Scout Deserves A Trained Leader

We know that Scouts in units run by trained leaders stay in Scouting longer, advance more, participate in more outings, and enjoy the experience more than those in units with leaders who have not attended training.  More than that, though, our training opportunities can teach you about the resources and opportunities available to have a quality program, and help you network with other leaders for advice.

 Hello Adults and Leaders,

As part of the St. Louis Area Council, one of the council requirements beginning this next year is that all parents of youth registered in scouting must be trained in their specific roles prior to re-charter.

What Re-Charter basically does is that it looks at list of currently registered scouts and re-registers existing scouts in the troop and removes any that have decided not to continue in scouting from a council perspective. It’s basically a yearly audit that the council level does to see how many active scouts they have in the district.

But back to the training part, they are asking that all troops’ leadership/parents be trained in their areas of leadership.

What does this mean for Troop 740 Parents/Leaders???

Well we have been doing a good job of keeping our leaders trained; however as a proactive step we are asking that all of our parents/leaders take at least at a bare minimum two training sessions.

The two training sessions are:

Youth Protection and Troop Committee Challenge

Both of these training's can be taken online at your leisure, the instructions are listed below for if you would like to take the training online. Doesn't take too long, you can get them both knocked out in 45 min easily.

If you do not like the online option, I will be hosting an in person training session at the Troop Meetings . This will be for just the parents only. I will be covering whatever training sessions you need and once completed, you will have been trained and we will have sign in sheets to track who attended in person. We will be in a room that is away from the scouts, that way we can hear each other.

Please let me know via email, your preference as to if you will be taking the online course, or if you prefer to attend the training at the Troop Meeting.
